Procedure/documents required for registering a civil marriage at the Embassy

Registration of civil marriage at the Embassy of India can be done if at least one of the partner is an Indian national and has a resident visa of the State of Qatar.  Following are the requirements and documents to be submitted at the Embassy:

  1. Bridegroom and bride passport copies & Qatar ID copies
  2. Any identity proof in r/o parents such as passport copy, voter ID, Aadhaar card, etc. (any government of India issued ID), duly attested by notary public/Embassy.
  3. If any of the party’s parent/s has expired, an attested copy of the death certificate/s
  4. Singleness/bachelorhood certificate from the jurisdictional Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or competent court in India, which should be duly attested by concerned State Home department and thereafter attested by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
  5. 03(three) Indian witnesses passport copies and Qatar ID copies
  6. 05 (five) passport size photographs of each of the partners

In case one of the partners is not an Indian national:

  1. The singleness certificate/affidavit is to be issued/attested by the competent authority of the concerned country
  2. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the concerned Embassy will be required
  3. One of the 3 witnesses should be of that foreign nationality.

For submission of documents, applicants are required to seek an online appointment at https://www.indianembassyqatar.gov.in/get-appointment

Submit the above documents along with the following, duly filled in, forms and prescribed fee at the Embassy:

  1. i) Miscellaneous Service form https://www.indianembassyqatar.gov.in/pdf/EAP_2_Form.pdf

iii) Notice of Intended marriage form  https://www.indianembassyqatar.gov.in/pdf/Form8C.pdf )

On submission of all the above documents/forms, a no objection notice will be placed on Embassy notice board for a period of one month. Simultaneously, the applicant is required to place an advertisement in a local newspaper in Qatar and in a leading English newspaper in the native place in India or his/her native place in foreign country, if one of the partner is of foreign nationality.  A NOC letter to this effect will be issued by the Embassy to the applicant.

After completion of one month from the date of advertisement in Newspapers and on the Embassy's notice board, the request for registration of marriage will be processed for clearance. The original newspaper clippings are required to be submitted to the Embassy.  After clearance, the applicant will be informed of the date for registration of marriage at the Embassy. 

Kindly note that the Marriage registration is subject to approval of documents by the competent authority.
