Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojna (PBBY) 2017

 

  • The Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojna (PBBY) 2017, a mandatory insurance scheme for ECR category Workers, is effective from 1st August 2017.

     

  • The PBBY 2017 provides the insurance cover of up to Rs. 10 Lakhs (Max.) in case of accidental death or permanent disability while on employment abroad with one time premium of Rs. 275 and Rs. 375 for two years and three years respectively.

     

  • The insured sum of Rs. 10 Lakhs (Max.) is payable by the insurance company, in the event of accidental death or permanent disability while on employment abroad, even if:

     

    (i) insured worker changes the employer.

     

    (ii) accidental death or permanent disability happens in India or any third country.

     

  • The PBBY 2017 policy can be renewed online.

     

  • The scheme also offers the following benefits:-

     

    Medical Insurance cover including injuries/sickness/ailment/diseases

    Rs. 1,00,000/- (up to Rs. 50,000/- per hospitalization)

    Family hospitalization in India

    Rs. 50,000/-

    Repatriation covers for the medically unfit/premature termination of employment.

    Actual one way economy class air fare to the nearest international airport in India.

    In case of emigrant‘s accident, death or permanent disability.

     

    Return economy class air fare to the nearest international airport to the attendant

    Maternity benefit to woman emigrant

    Rs. 35000/-

    Legal expenses on litigation related to emigrant’s overseas employment

    Rs. 45,000/-

     

  • Insurance Claim can be registered online through the Ministry’s portal: https://emigrate.gov.in .

     

    1. Open the homepage

       

    2. Click on caption PBBY Policy

       

    3. Click on ‘submit claim for PBBY policy’

       

    4. A template page appears where insurance details are to be filled.

       

    5. Claim can be registered by the emigrants, their relatives, friends, PoEs, Indian Missions, IWRC, RAs.

       

Insurance claim lodged on the e-Migrate portal is directly assigned to the Insurance company for settlement of claim with payment of insured sum of Rs. 10 Lakh (Max.)/other limited benefits.

 

Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF)

 

The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) is an unique community organization under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha, and has undertaken the noble task of providing succor and solace to the needy and under privileged Indian workers in distress at Qatar by way of providing financial, medical and other assistance.

 

ICBF has set up a Help Desk since May 2006 at Indian Embassy premises as well as at Dukhan and Al Khor since July 2007 for providing prompt assistances to deserving persons at right juncture of their need. The ICBF Help Desk is manned on all seven days a week during the evening hours (6 to 8 PM)

 

ICBF Provides Assistance for

 

  1. Those suffering from life threatening diseases.

    Those having permanent disability due to accidental or illness cases.

     

  2. Bereaved dependents of people who die in Qatar.

     

  3. Help in deserving cases of deportation.

     

  4. Burial/ transportation of the mortal remains of the deceased.

     

  5. Provides various items of necessity to the male / female inmates in Deportation Centre and Jail.

     

  6. Provides food and ration to stranded laborers.

     

  7. Conducts Free Medical Camps on a regular basis.

     

  8. Provides Medical Assistance

     

  9. Provide free advise to needy and deserving Indian workers.

     

  10. Providing Medical Assistance in the form of free medical treatment on a regular basis to deserving Indian workers suffering from chronic diseases by ICBF Panel of Doctors at Doha and other satellite cities of (Wakrah and Al-Khor) who are not entitled for treatment in Government and local hospitals, due to not having Resident Permit of Qatar.

     

  11. ICBF also reimburses the expenses every year for getting Govt. Medical Card for deserving persons requiring frequent medical treatment in Government Hospitals.
