Q: Has work related to Consular/Passport/Visa matters been outsourced by Indian Missions/Posts?
A:

The Ministry introduced outsourcing of visa services in Indian Missions and Posts abroad in 2006-07. Subsequently, passport and consular services were also outsourced. Presently, 67 Indian Missions/Posts abroad have outsourced passport/visa/consular services and collection work. The objective of outsourcing is to facilitate prompt and efficient visa, passport and consular services to the public and to provide a presentable and accessible location for delivery of these services wherever possible.

Q: When was the e-Tourist Visa (e-TV) scheme launched? To how many countries has this facility been extended? How many eTVvisas were issued in 2015?
A:

The TVOA-ETA Scheme was launched on 27.11.2014. It was renamed as e-TOURIST VISA (e-TV) from 15.04.2015. Initially it was available for nationals of 43 countries and was later extended to more countries. Since 26 February 2016, e-TV scheme is available for holders of passports of 150 countries/territories. A total of 517,413e-Tourist Visas were issued in the year 2015.
